8-8-22 THOUGHTS
There is a marvelous principle of life given in the reading below. May I call it the “GO GET IT” law? In verse 7, we read "The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding. “ There it is! You will be wise if you PURSUE with DILIGENCE! Don’t wait for the world to hand you a life. The father to son conversation ends with promise. “When you walk, your steps will not be impeded; And if you run, you will not stumble. 13 Take hold of instruction; do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life.” The guiding principle we are discussing is aggressive and not passive! LIVE TO LEARN, AND YOU WILL LEARN TO LIVE!
Prov 4:1-13 Hear, O sons, the instruction of a father, And give attention that you may gain understanding, 2 For I give you sound teaching; Do not abandon my instruction. 3 When I was a son to my father, Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother, 4 Then he taught me and said to me, "Let your heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments and live; 5 Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth. 6 "Do not forsake her, and she will guard you; Love her, and she will watch over you. 7 "The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding. 8 "Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her. 9 "She will place on your head a garland of grace; She will present you with a crown of beauty." 10 Hear, my son, and accept my sayings And the years of your life will be many. 11 I have directed you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in upright paths. 12 When you walk, your steps will not be impeded; And if you run, you will not stumble. 13 Take hold of instruction; do not let go. Guard her, for she is your life.
Luke 10:42 but [only] one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
Php 3:8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,
Col 3:23-24 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
My Prayer:
Father, may we seek your wisdom with all of our heart. Help us to give, not some small, half-hearted effort... but diligent pursuit. May we grow as we seek your presence. Write your name on our hearts, O God. We would abide in You, in the Vine. Teach us to bear fruit, focus our lives on serving You and not ourselves. We would be good sheep and children. Raise our goals as we examine our lives, O Lord. Help us to refuse mediocrity and complacency. Make us wise fishers of men. In the name of our Savior, Jesus the Christ, Amen.
